Career Paths

Graduates in AB Political Science in MSU-IIT are exposed to six areas of study: Philippine Politics, Comparative Politics, Foreign Relations, Political Theory, Political Dynamics, and Research in Politics.  The exposure into the varied areas of Political Science provides graduates with wide ranging opportunities in employment and for further studies at the graduate level.

Graduates in AB Political Science proved to be versatile when it comes to employment.  Many become officials of the Philippine National Police and the military.  Others join the local government, NGOs and cooperatives.  Some took teaching jobs and all those who later took up education subjects in order to take the teacher’s board passed with high marks.  Many are lured into call centers where they excelled owed to their skill in public speaking which is emphasized in all major subjects.  Many who pursued graduate degrees in management, administration, political science, history, and education found themselves well equipped with research skills, thus making them highly competitive.

Almost half of the graduates of AB Political Science proceed to the College of Law where they distinguish themselves as highly qualified students.  The quality of the graduates of Department of Political Science in MSU-IIT is attested by the fact that of all departments in the Institute, it has produced the biggest number of graduates who later became lawyers.

Success after graduation is enhanced by the highly developed skill in teamwork that characterizes a graduate of AB Political Science at MSU-IIT.  Political Science students in MSU-IIT are trained in their co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop strategic directions and to work with their peers for common goals. This is attested by their dominance in sports, literary and cultural activities in the College of Arts and Social Sciences despite being not as big as the other departments in the college.  The strong bonding developed in college days is lasting and manifested long after graduation. The alumni association of the department is one of the first to organize in the Institute and proved to be one of the strongest.  Certainly, the development of identity and the feeling of belongingness is a mark of political science education at MSU-IIT.   Thus, a graduate in AB Political Science in MSU-IIT is equipped with needed knowledge and the right attitude to face the competitive life of a graduate.
