History

The Integrated Developmental School (IDS) has a longer history than MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). Originally known as Iligan High School (IHS), it was established in 1946 to answer the clamor of parents and Iligan constituents to have their own high school. Six Iliganons namely: Potenciano Lasmarias, Isabel Abragan, Abundio Fernandez, Santiago Perfecto, Teresa Beley and Constancio Jariol donated eight hectares of lot for the site of Iligan High School through the negotiation of the Parent-Teacher Association President, Court of First Instance Judge Ramon Nolasco and Treasurer Loreto Mendoza.  Later, it was named Lanao Technical School (LTS) in 1956-1967 created under R.A. 1562, a high school specializing in vocational and technical courses. Although it never was implemented in 1965, Lanao Technical School became Northern Mindanao Institute of Technology thru RA 4626. On July 12, 1968 under R.A. 5363, Lanao Technical School was annexed to Mindanao State University and was renamed Developmental High School (DHS). At present, under BOR Resolution No. 147 s. 1992, it is known as Integrated Developmental School (IDS), a laboratory school of the College of Education.

The Parent-Teacher Association was organized to provide a formal venue where parents and teachers can work together for the welfare and development of the students. Several PTA presidents were elected putting up different projects during their time. It was in 1994 that the PTA was registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and became the Parent-Teacher Association Foundation Incorporated (PTAFI).

In 1994, the PTAFI with the IDS Administration hosted the Grand Alumni Homecoming for high school graduates of 1946-1993. In 2000, Batch ’75 in celebration of their 25th (Silver) Anniversary hosted the next Grand Alumni Homecoming. Henceforth, Annual Grand Alumni Homecoming is celebrated, hosted by the batch commemorating its 25th anniversary. In 2003, the Alumni Association registered with SEC and was named MSU-IIT High School (IHS,LTS,DHS,IDS) Alumni Association (MHSAA).

The PTAFI and MHSAA are instrumental in achieving IDS objectives by providing funds for the facilities, grants-in-aid and other incentives for the welfare of the students and faculty.
