"Tales" tours banner 24th
Season
Tales
From Mindanao sets
for more national tours. It opened its 2001-2002 campus tours with
2 shows at the U.P. campuses in Los Banos and Diliman last July 16 and
17, respectively. "Tales" performs in Baguio, Iloilo, Los Banos, and Mindanao
campuses, among other venues.
The internationally-acclaimed "Tales"
has been on several legs of a national tour in the last 2 seasons performing
to large enthusiastic audiences around the country in Manila, Subic, Pampanga,
Pangasinan, Butuan, Cagayan, Marawi and Los Banos, among other sites The
dance theater has represented the country in many international festivals
in France, Netherlands, Austria, England, Spain, Portugal and Singapore.
It is set for a short road tour of Taiwan this year and a longer one in
Europe next season.

24th Season Schedule Out
The Artistic Director announces the
24th Season offerings of original works. These productions built on the
IPAG dance-music theater style features collaborative works of IPAG artists
using local creative resources.
In MSU-IIT, IPAG performs new dance
vignettes and merges this with pop in cooltura@pop to premiere
August 17 and 18 at the MSU-IIT gym. The innovative music-parody How
the Women of Joaquin Met Lawanen goes onstage December 7 and
8. New experimental works featuring
small-castdancers-actors-musicians premiere in Mumunting
Espacio (Small Spaces) in February next year.
A Choreographers Workshop will be
conducted October 22-27 to be capped by the production of new works.
The Tales
From Mindanao saga continues on its nationwide campus tours.
In the wings too are plans for a major celebration of IPAG's Silver Jubillee
next year, its 25th Season.
IPAG Director in World Who's
Who
The
Who's Who in the 21st Century has announced the inclusion of IPAG
Director Steven Fernandez in its first edition for the millenium. Biographies
from all over the world are carefully screened for inclusion in this major
reference published by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge,
England. Editor-in-Chief Jon Gifford in his announcement writes: "It is
difficult to select biographies whose achievements are among the most noteworthy
in their field." check

Dance Workshop conducted
Fifty two participants from all over
Mindanao completed a week's intensive course on ethnic dances. Dance researchers
facilitated instruction of dances from Central Mindanao and the Cordilleras.
Augmenting the workshops were lectures by specialists in dance composition,
ethics of ethnic dances, dance group organization and arts management.
Guest resource persons included Ramon Obusan and his staff, Ruth Tilanduca
who brought a Tala-andig contingent, and the IPAG facilitators. Steven
Fernandez and Nolly Ceballos delivered the lectures.
