The world’s a stage, and the Integrated Performing Arts Guild, resident theater company of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, wants to prove this is no cliché as it embarks on national and international tours this year with the theme “Bridging cultures through the theater”.

Director Steven Fernandez said IPAG will continue to tour Southern Philippine dances -stories nationwide and in international festivals.

"Tales" continues to wow large audiences
IPAG brought its exciting theater to more schools and events in Manila and Mindanao. "Tales" played to full audiences in the DOT-sponsored "The Best of the Best" in the open Intramuros stage last Feb. 25. It also performed in St. Paul's Manila (Feb. 26) and Miriam Colleges (Feb. 27) . In Mindanao, IPAG brought this dance theater production to Tangub and Malaybalay Cities last Feb. 15 and 19, respectively. Highlight of the Aiieee! production in the MSU-IIT last Mar. 6 were dance vignettes from IPAG's "Tales" that brought the house down.

Iligan's school children particularly enjoyed "Mga Kwentong Mindanao Pambata" when the kid's version of "Tales" opened last Feb. 21 at the MSU-IIT gym.

For Valentine's Day, IPAG produced a pop concert entitled "Ageless" which also performed to a full house at the Marawi Resort Hotel in the MSU campus.

Jam-packed gym salutes IPAG 25th Year
"Diwang-IPAG IPAG-diwang" attracted
a banner audience at the MSU-IIT gym last Dec. 6. The production album of IPAG'S most memorable images and sounds celebrated the Guild's Silver anniversary and the spirit that has kept the fires of regional dance and theater burning in the last 25 years. "Alive@25" is IPAG's celebratory cry announcing the Guild's contribution to the Philippine Stage and highlighting the productions that have touched hundreds and thousands of audiences here and abroad.

National tours wow large audiences
Packing gyms and theaters everywhere, "Tales From Mindanao" continued to wow audiences. The show was in St. Scholastica Nov. 12 and 15, St. Paul's Pasig in Nov. 19, and at the Misamis University, Ozamis City, last Dec. 7. During this period, the Guild highlighted the closing program of the National Travel Mart held Nov. 23 at the Mega Trade Hall of the SM Mega in Mandaluyong City.

Between scheduled legs, the Music Ensemble presented a pop and Filipino music concert to benefit the Bishop Tudtud Home for the Aged Foundation of Iligan last Nov. 30 at the Ma. Cristina Hotel.

"Tales" continues to tour extensively around the country next year beginning in January. IPAG's first international stint for 2003 will be in Shanghai, China, for the "Philippine-China: Ties That Bind" Project in March 23 to 31.
