KWITS

A twin bill of one-act plays that expose the deals and incongruities of today’s charades. “Patas,” a controversial work by Steven Patrick C. Fernandez and an outstanding play in the 1986 CCP Playwriting Workshop, is corruption and sexual politics that rock the university.  

Tambacan goes crazy when Kikay returns from Nuyok in “New Yorker sa Tambacan,” an adaptation of Marcelino Agana’s hilarious “New Yorker in Tondo.”

Two partners, two lives, and two stories. Bak2Bak is: Babuyan Island by three-time Palanca-winner German Gervacio and Isa Pang Kawing by Steven Patrick C. Fernandez. These plays peep into artificial relationships between odd couples who, after some uneasy coping, acknowledge their predicaments.

UWAHIG

A multi-media traipse through the elemental landscape of postcolonial, postmodern, war-stricken environmentally ravaged Mindanao. The collaborative piece has been produced by Mindulani, Inc., the network of Mindanao theatre artists for the 31st UNESCO International Theatre Festival. Front acting are new exciting dance works by IPAG’s budding choreographers.

More kudos for National tours
Tales From Mindanao and sequel Tatlo Sa Isa performed in the Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, Philamlife Auditorium and the Far Eastern University Theater in Manila to cap its 28th Season
National Choreographers Workshop in Iligan
Twenty choreographers from various groups in Mindanao joined dance professor and choreologist Esteban "Basilio" Villaruz in a workshop last November 4 to 8 in Iligan.


IPAG on U.S. road show blitz
American audiences have responded with 7 standing ovations for 7 shows of Tales From Mindanao in the IPAG's Hawaii island tour and in Olympia and Seattle Cities in Washington State.

It performs next in Hollywood in the International Celebrity Center (5930 Franklin Ave., Hollywood) before flying to Washington DC with performances in Arlington Virginia, North Carolina, the Fayetteville International Festival, and Virginia Beach.

The Philippine Centennial Commission and the Conference of Visayan Organizations hosts the IPAG in Hawaii. Other sponsors in the various states include the Filipino-American Community of South Puget Sound, the Migrant Heritage Commission, the Philippine Heritage Foundation of North Carolina, and The Travel Outlet, among many others. The production that IPAG is bringing to America has been performed to over 80 cities around the world in its previous tours.

IPAG off for 2006 U.S. tour
IPAG launches its road tours of the U.S. starting with performances of Tales From Mindanao in Hawaii in July 29. IPAG is featured in the Philippine Centennial Celebrations. It also performs in Washington State, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles.

IPAG's 29th Season offers more excitement
Two local in-base productions and several international-national road tours of its well-acclaimed shows make exciting the IPAG 29th Season for 2006-2007.

While the integrated arts ensemble continues its international tours, home-based actors are busy with the first twin-bill this season: Patas by Steven P.C. Fernandez and the hilarious New Yorker sa Tambacan, an adaptation of the now-classic comedy by Marcelino Agana, New Yorker in Tondo.

IPAG joins ITI-UNESCO festival
Steven P.C. Fernandez conceptualized, wrote, and directed the collaborative production Uwahig, Mindanao's entry in the UNESCO-organized International Theatre Institute (ITI) Philippine Theatre Festival last May in Manila. With Fernandez was a team from the IPAG that joined Mindanao artists Felimon Blanco and Boots Dumlao in mounting the post modern theatre piece representing Mindulani, Inc.
Uwahig joined hundreds of theatre artists in the week-long international festival that represented countries affiliated with the ITI.

Collaborating with Fernandez and the IPAG were Felimon Blanco of the Kumbingan Ensemble, and Boots Dumlao of the Kathara Dance Collective. Music was composed by Geejay Ariola and the Mebuyan Peace Project. The IPAG artists are: Leilani Monterola-Fernandez, Melvin Pascubillo, Amado Guinto, Wenna Balaido, Jetaime Yamut, Kenn Erwin Velasquez, and Hobart Savior. Lilybeth Maraon is Stage Manager, Dexter Jumalon is Technical Director assisted by Arvin Solis and Albert Manosa, and Arlem Abanes Production Manager.

Uwahig will be seen early next year as part of the IPAG 29th Season.

IPAG has performed in over 80 cities around the world, in Monaco, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, .  It won the Grand Prize in the Concourse de Chanson Internationaux and was most awarded group of the 13th International Folklore Festival in Port Sur Saone, France.
In July to October, it performs for the Philippine Centennial Celebrations in Hawaii and in other events in the U.S. Mainland.
