HOBART SAVIOR has worked as actor, stage manager, dancer, theater teacher, administrator, and director in plays and films. He acted in Ming Ming and in both the IPAG's full-length performances of Datu Matu for the CCP's 2nd National Theater Festival and the CCP Pilak excerpt. He recently performed for Initiation International Festival in Singapore. His directed Dalagang Bukid, Patas, and Ang Paglilitis Kay Mang Serapio, among others. He is Artistic Director of the Liceo Integrated and Performing Arts of the Liceo University in Cagayan de Oro City.LARA FATIMA MAGLINAO is with the international touring company of the IPAG. She joined IPAG's triumphant performances to South Korea, Taiwan, and Europe. She was Amada, the Nick Joaquin character in the postmodern How the Women of Joaquin Met Lawanin. Lara dances lead parts in the current road performances and joins the IPAG in its world tours this year. PHOEBE GAYANELO dances with the national performances of the IPAG. She played the lead in Anthony Tan's “Love and Death in Muddas,” part IPAG's Tales From Mindanao. She has acted in “Raising Heaven” a film by Golden Swords Production. ORWEL OBACH is a practicing architect by day and a Humanities teacher by night. PRICYBELLE AGUILAR and XYZA PYR CONSUL are English majors with the Stagecraft class.


 


The Poet-Playwright
GERMAN GERVACIO
has 3 Palanca awards for poetry and fiction besides other awards from Homelife and the NCCA-sponsored Text Salawikain. Babuyan Island is his second play after Si Tanya, Ang Uwak na Gustong Pumuti which he adapted from his from first-prize winning story for children. German has an A.B. Filipino (magna cum laude) degree from the MSU-IIT and an M.A. in Creative Writing from the U.P. He is currently completing his Ph.D in Malikhaing Pagsulat also in U.P. German is Associate Professor and former Chairman of the Dept. of Filipino and Other Languages, MSU-IIT.

The Director-Playwright
STEVEN PATRICK C. FERNANDEZ
Peers have recognized his play Ming Ming as the highest artistic achievement in Mindanao Theater. His innovations and irreverence have led the way of contemporary theater with postmodern works like Reviving Subalternity (which premiered to critical acclaim in Taipei and in the Asia Meets Asia Festival in Tokyo) and How the Women of Joaquin Met Lawanen. He has numerous other works including the Tales From Mindanao and Tatlo sa Isa sagas. In Iligan, he is Tibo, Mr. Theater, who has led efforts to professionalize theater in the South. He has been cited with national and international recognitions among these from the Fookien Times' 2004 Philippine Yearbook as "Defender of Our Heritage," the CCP Pilak, 3 outstanding citizen awards, the Cambridge International Biographic Centre’s 2001 edition of Who’s Who in the World, and the CCP Encyclopedia of the Arts. He is also the first and only Doctor of Fine Arts from a Philippine university. He observed and trained in theater in the U.S., Sweden, China, and Japan (the last under a grant from the Japan Foundation). His works have been extensively produced all over the country and in major cities in Europe and Asia. He led IPAG to 8 international tours representing the Philippines in major festivals. He is Professor and Resident Director in the MSU-IIT, playwright-panelist of the Iligan National Writers Workshop, and sits as Mindanao representative of the Committee of Literature of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
