Entertaining
and colorful stories adapted from the rich folklore of Southern Philippines
performed in dance, music, and drama. Using ethnic-inspired motifs and
movements of the signature IPAG Dance Theater, the production narrates
tales of love, folk legends, the conflicts of tradition and modernity,
the concern for the environment, and the comic follies of the folk.
Tales is the IPAG International
production, a collection of over 20 dance-music-drama vignettes that have
dazzled foreign audiences in the U.S., Hawaii, Asia and Europe. It had its international
debut as Philippine representative in the 1994 Sin gapore Festival of the
Arts, and represented the country in triumphant 1996-98, 2001-2002 performances in
the Netherlands, Austria, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, South Korea (for the World Cup), Taiwan, and Monaco (for a command performance for Prince Albert).
Its most recent international stint was its celebration of thePhilippine Centennial in Hawaii and the U.S. mainland in July to October 2006.Tales has performed to large audiences in extensive national tours after
its premiere for the 1992 National Theater Festival at the Cultural Center
of the Philippines. It is perhaps the country's most toured dance-music production that has reached hundreds and thousands of audiences around the archipelago.
Tatlo sa Isa (Three peoples in One Island) is the sequel to the Talessaga.
