IPAG artists come from various parts of the country. They somehow converge because of the lure of the theater and the love for performance. The converging point is the MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology where the IPAG is based and where these artists study. From apprenticeships upon their application to the Guild, they graduate to resident artists.

IPAG artists undergo rigid training in the craft of their choice before they are allowed to perform. Part of this training includes orientation studies in Philippine Theater and Dance. Privileges for accepted applicants include free tuition to the Institute, free books, and a modest monthly allowance. Performing artists have the privilege of touring with the Guild to various places around the country and abroad.
