The proscenium is the most common type of stage one finds in many auditoriums in the country. It is characterized as a stage with a picture frame
border. The audience sits in one corner of the performing space. Visual elements and the actors are arranged ("blocked") like in a picture or painting.
Oftentimes, during a performance, the lights are turned off in the audience portion and only the stage lights where the action happens are turned on. The
audience seems like "peeping toms" having the privilege to watch actions happening inside a room or space.
