The poets,
with roots in or connections to the Visayas and Mindanao are all eminent
writers. All award winners and accomplished authors, they lead in the
propagation of poetry in Philippine Literature.

MARJ EVASCO whose poems have been anthologized in major
international publications is Professor in the De La Salle University.
CHRISTINE GODINEZ-ORTEGA founded the Iligan National Writers
Workshop. Through his poetry and stories, ANTHONY TAN makes the
world experience the sensibilities of Siasi, his hometown in the Sulu
Archipelago. GERMAN GERVACIO, a
'transplanted' Tagalog in Iligan,
mixes the wry Manila humor with the folk Mindanaon air. RALPH SEMINO
GALAN, homegrown poet from Iligan, is also critic and professor in
the University of Sto. Tomas.
