The poets, with roots in or connections to the Visayas and Mindanao are all eminent writers. All award winners and accomplished authors, they lead in the propagation of poetry in Philippine Literature. Philippine Arts and Letters banner their names and contributions. MARJ EVASCO whose poems have been anthologized in major international publications is Professor in the De La Salle University. CHRISTINE GODINEZ-ORTEGA founded the Iligan National Writers Workshop. Through his poetry and stories, ANTHONY TAN makes the world experience the sensibilities of Siasi, his hometown in the Sulu Archipelago. GERMAN GERVACIO, a 'transplanted' Tagalog in Iligan, mixes the wry Manila humor with the folk Mindanaon air. RALPH SEMINO GALAN, homegrown poet from Iligan, is also critic and professor in the University of Sto. Tomas.
